Will dry not live rock create a cycle?!!

Why do we buy rock from florida for one price or pacific area for more or relatively remote places for even more. Because of quality and density of flora/fauna.

You don't think that it has anything to do with shipping cost?

ime dry rock like brs or marco , is best given time in a drak place to establish a good biodiversity or critters / bacteria , Before algae (requires lite) gets a chance to take hold.

in many cases I cure it in the systems dark sump before moving to the DT .

The rock was soaked in bleach for 2 days then drained dried out for 24hr then R/0 water with prime for 48 hours now sitting out side again for 2 days in the sun.

i think i said that correctly.


the rock was from max reef if was shelf rock and the bulky rock rock is now dead and dried out. after all this taken place there should be no cycle from what we are being told. cause we will be using some of the seeded rock from the main DT into the new one with the tank transfer. It will be fine..you seen my tank,everything is thriving and growing and I did the same thing with more dead rock and added less established rock..when its setup and ready add some bacteria supplement.I also add bacteria when I do waterchanges.call me when your setting it up!
