MR Coral Database

What is it?
A central listing of all coral colonies kept by our members

Why do we need it?
It helps coral enthusiasts track species/types kept in local tanks. For example, if you lost a colony of your favorite coral you could do a search to see if someone else had some. If you wanted to get a frag of something rare you could post a message in the frag listing (i.e. the wait list).

Where is it?
On the main menu, Reviews/Coral Database
Or Click Here

Features:
  • Ability to attach a header image for listing in the directory
  • Can attach as many other images as you like in the description
  • Users can comment on the colony or request frags directly from the owner
  • Owners can enter the exact conditions the coral is being kept in so other people can get a sense of what it may look like in their tanks.
  • All corals in the database are automatically listed when you search the main site (i.e. a search for Green Monti will list topics with that in the title as well as the corals in the database).
We have been working on this for a while but it is in no way complete. If you have any suggestions or problems please post a message here.

Please give it a try and let us know what you think! We can do a lot more with this tool but only if we know what people want to see.

Thanks!

What a great idea. The specifics regarding flow and lighting could be posted as a poll as well, such that if high flow and high light worked fine for certain corals, but half of the members were only using med. light, and also having great success, those who were interested in keeping such a coral could see the flexibility. Just my .02
well done

Just checked out this new feature....I have one word for it....AWESOME!!

For someone new to corals like myself, I thought it was a fabulous way to see picks next to actual descriptions of the species and other important parameters for good keeping of these animals. Can't wait to see this database of information grow!

The Mods/Creatures of this site continue to amaze me with their creativeness. I am so happy to be a part of this group....keep up the wonderful work guys!!!!!!

Jon, great new feature.
When this listing gets to be 100's of corals long though, it'll be much more difficult to find the one you're looking for. Do you think some sort of alphabetizing/categorizing (sps, lps, softie, etc), by genus, etc. would be of some benefit?
