So is it possible to have too much filtration?? The thing is I have a 75g tank but I feel that I?m over filtering is there such a thing???? I have a Megaflow#4 sump that I converted to a refugem with DSB ruball rock instead of the bioballs, macro algae that is growing nicely, over all I think but sump/refugim is grate, I have to reactors, one TLF 150 with more than ? full with biopelltes that have been running for the past 5 months I just refilled it this week, & I have a NextReef MR1 GFO and Carbon, and a eshopps psk 100H skimmer.
My corals are, LPS, zoa?s , polyp corals, mushrooms, one nice size sun coral, and Kenya tree, & 2 RBTA
Fish: copperband butterfly, Bicolor angel, Flame angel, Royal Gramma & 2 Ocellaris Clownfish.
2 weeks ago when I did a water test everything just look grate, but in the past weeks it looks like my mushrooms are not that happy, I?m thinking is my water just too clean for my corals,????

did you try throwing a little food in there for them since you got a lot of filtration? And as someone already said LPS and polyps like a little nitrates and phos. I've even seen them doing just fine in tanks with high nitrates and phos

You melt 1/2 of reactor ( Biopellts) in 5 months ?! , take 4-6 weeks just to activate, if Macro Algae grow nice, mean u got PO4 and Nitrate. Convert sump w/DSB ruball rock, no good idea (in my opinion, will be detritus factory). Borrow ORP monitor, if u got over 475 u right .

Well I do water changes once a month, during the week I feed my fish 2 times a day, and on weekends 3 times, my corals get some Coral Frenzy and zooplankton once or twice a week. On the past week I have been getting hair algae mostly on the sand bed and some slime algae on the rock, in the past 2 weeks I started to dose Brightwell Aquatics Reef Biofuel & Brightwell Aquatics Microbacter7 Bioculture and last week I just added some more biopelets to the existing amount that I had so now the TLF 150 reactor is more than ? full. I?ll be doing a water change tonight or tomorrow night, but before I?ll do it I?ll do the water test for all parameters.

I am thinking of adding for sure 5 Blue/Green Chromis and maybe 2 more medium size fish but I?m not sure what to add, I want a yellow tang, but I?m not sure because I have a 75G, maybe a Mandarin and a yellow tang, or something else, I don?t know.

This is a morning pic, so corals are not fully open

I like to say that there is no such thing as over filtering when it comes to saltwater fish tanks, instead, I like to say that there is over doing it or doing it too quickly.

Basic filtering cannot be over done.

Its when we get into reactors and non basic media and dosing that we can over do it.

If your corals are telling you something, throttle back the non basic stuff, take a step back and figure out which of your non standard filtering methods may be affecting your corals.

Yes I think in the past 2 weeks I have over done it with dosing in general, just in the past moth I got like 5 new corals so I think I went overboard with dosing, if you were me will you add more fish??

Hair algae means you have some phosphates in the tank. Also the reason why your fuge algae is growing like crazy. You have room for more fish, and yes scale back on the non-basic stuff and I think you'll be good.
