So you can't change spectrum w an LED fixture? As far as drivers go they can be swapped out in DIY units relatively easily and quickly. They are the same if not cheaper than a good T5 ballast. WHY would you have to buy a whole new fixture because a driver went bad? Send it back to the manufacturer and have it replaced. Doubt it's gonna be $700 lol.

I was more aiming towards if you have a problem with LEDs burning out you can't replace them without replacing the unit or sending them back to the manufacturer to get it fixed as well as I said--IN NON DIY UNITS---No matter if you "could" open them up and solder in new LEDs I would never do it. There's a reason soldering is automated, the human hand is not nearly steady enough to do as good of a job. You also need to be able to make sure you don't overheat anything with the iron being too hot. Another thing robotics and automation outdo humans on hands down.

And no. You can't change it to the extent you can change a t5 fixtures spectrum. I don't care what anyone says. There's a limited amount of uv, green and cyan LEDs in a fixture that it doesnt compare in my opinion.

To a point maybe. I do component level
soldering often even on boards that were previously wave soldered. It's not hard just takes patience. As far as replacing components the major manufacturers are making the units in modular form more and more. Repairs are now a matter of getting a replacement and swapping it out. Usually involving a few screws and
Or plugs. Before you said you couldn't change spectrum. Big difference between can't and not to a certain extant. Go over enough spectral plots and you'll see LEDs are a lot closer than you assume them to be. Not exact but in most cases very very close. The use of T5's w LEDs gives the best of both worlds.

I apologize to the MR community for converting him to partial LEDs.

I have a whole book on PS but come on that wouldn't be fair. NOONE on MR uses that lol.
