not arguing just curious, i all ways read that rock is our primary filter as far as denitrification. besides my rock i have a skimmer and a sock.

Just use whatever you want for aesthetics and go from there. Even very small amount provide much more surface area/volume than systems could ever need.

+1. same about 3-5 Watts/gal. It's all about filtration, i will buy a good skimmer, than find a way to control Bacteria (dosing Carbon).
