Is there any way without. using a controller to make my skimmer on a 5-10 min delay on starting up in the event of a power outage it is in sump sro 5000 int

Matt..Ive been looking for a cheaper one for a few years now...for those who have in sump skimmers we can relate to this...with in sump skimmers when the power is off all the water flows into the sump raising the water level...when the power is returned with the water level now higher the skimmer overflows ....what Ive been doing is just cleaning my skimmer cup more often so that if it does overflow not much skimmate will return into the sump...

Can you connect the skimmer to something like the jbj ato system and set the floats so it only powers the skimmer when the water level is where u want it?

Is it that big of a deal? Wont the sump drain to regular levels rather quickly? I often leave my skimmer running during water changes when the water level rises with no problems.

I Have a BM skimmer that goes nuts when the water level increases

Don't know how reliable an ATO float switch would be because it would be on all the time and occasionally going off as opposed to being off most of the time I don't know anyone using it that way.
An Apex is a possible solution with a reliable float switch
Not really a big deal but it does take a few minutes for the level in the sump to lower and if there is a cup full of skimate it will overflow back into the system. I sometimes use a hose attached from the collection cup to a 5 gallon water jug.

I'm looking for a simple solution I think I found one they sell surge protectors that when power goes out it will remain off until u press reset button!
I'm running a sro 5000 int and recently power company shut my power to work on something the skimmer overflowed with all the skimate going back into tank and some on to carpet then because skimate goes back into water the skimmer goes crazy and I like where it's set right now

So for $20 I can get a surge protector if power goes out skimmer stays off till Im able to look things over press reset

Not sure why they don't sell cheaper relays for things like this seems like should be a 10$ item
