Should have been at the LIRA meeting :) pretty flexible.. 10g is ok for a pair. Temp and corals ok too. Not sure about other fish but they eat shrimps. Sand wasnt much of an issue from the pics that were shown...they are pretty hardy from what was discussed.

Personally I'd stick to a 20gal as a minimum for these guys. They grow to about 4" and two of them in a 10 is going to be tight.

As far as cycling goes, if you have a tank running now you shouldn't have to really cycle a new one. Take a couple good pieces of rock and water from your existing tank. The old rock will seed the new one and the old water will also bring in some bacteria so you shouldn't have to worry about it too much. Just monitor the parameters and be ready to do a few more water changes from the old tank.

Sounds good. Just re-organized under my current tanks stand. All nice & neat with wiring now. Just gotta make room somewhere for this tank. what's the reg price for a pair you think as I was not able to make it to the meeting?

I'm probably going to give them their own tank soon. I think the large open space of the 60 frag they're in is a little scary for them especially with other fish in the different sections. They gave up trying to find a big enough hole in the eggcrate they could fit through. I'm now looking for night vision/ IR goggles I can use to watch them in the dark since they've been cruising around more in the dark so far and I've seen them doing some strange stuff at night.

Estimated retail for Diver's Den Monday is 225-250. There's a lot of time and effort that goes into getting them to the point where they're pretty hardy and easy to feed. Plus 1) they're really rare and 2) that price point prevents them from being a half assed impulse purchase. They'll end up with people who really want to take care of them.

Life expectancy is about 15 months which isn't bad compared to what a good amount of hobbyists will get out of fish with much longer lifespans (just saying) except these guys are actually hardy at this stage. The main issue is keeping up with their fast metabolism, which means several feedings a day. Feeding them is more of a treat than a chore though since what else is going to expertly grab it's food by shooting a pair of specialized tentacles at it???

I caught the male going after his reflection last night. You can see him go through color and pattern changes during the video. I moved him away from the glass afterwards because he seemed winded and a little stressed. They're still settling into the new environment so it might be a few more days before they're back to their normal activities.

Awesome! They're breeding now and hopefully I should see eggs soon. You can actually see them working through problems, like getting shrimp out from between rocks or other possible issues. I want to start playing with puzzles for them since they seem to get bored sometimes if nothing is going on.
