I am starting to get a little worried. My setup is a deep blue 57 gallon rimless tank with the matching carbon fiber stand. I noticed the other day that at the bottom, behind the carbon fiber post the wood is starting to bow. I am worried that one day I will come home and find everything on the floor. Is there a fix I can do? Something like put two studs behind the carbon fiber post to strengthen it or do I have to bite the bullet and get a new stand and transfer everything over?

I cant really tell from the pics where that is , is it right on the edge of the carbon fiber behind it ? its not part if tge door at all right ?

And first things first it looks like your sump is leaking right in front causing the cheap particle board they use to make these stand to swell up

All that salt creep right in front isnt normal

Sorry about that the first pic is on the left side of the stand with the door open looking at it from the side. The last pic is on the right and same thing door opened and swelling is from the bottom. The salt creep is actually an accumulation bc the water in the sump is splashing from the water coming from the skimmer--I thought it was a leak as well but that's not it. Thanks for the help and sorry for the horrible pics. I can get better pics but it will have to be a little later on. Thanks

Im thinking attach a 3/4 sheet of plywood behind it make sure it fits perfectly though with the top and bottom of the stand to support the weight and then attach it to the board currently there for support

And whatever water splashing is happening is definrtly whats causing this to happen , i cant see your sump but i would suggest fixing that or else your goi g to have the same problem forever , maybe make a cover for the sump or move the skimmer back more im not really sure but thats definetly the cause unless you spilled alot of water recenetly

Thanks so I will attempt to do this project over the weekend. Just a few questions. Do I cut it so that it fits exactly top to bottom? And do I screw it in to the existing wood? Lastly do you have any ideas for a cover for the sump? Thanks

Make a temporary repair. Definitely replace the stand as soon as you can with something not made out of cheap particle board.

Even the expensive Marineland stands are particleboard with a wood veneer.

A picture would be great of the sump and where your return is, as well as your skimmer. If it's the skimmer fix it with a down pipe so the water doesn't return above your water line. If it's the return from your tank, go to Home Depot buy a coupler and some extra length of PVC and make it return under your water level in your sump. Those are the best options for preventing the water splashing if those are your issues. I wouldn't worry a lot about the wood on the stand as it is now. Unless there is more than the pic is showing. Your main objective is to prevent the splashing.

Just about every manufacturer makes there stands out of the crappy particle board...this is the #1 reason I always build my own stand..I don't trust any stand a manufacturer makes
