I'm running the mini uv on my Biocube and some how my fish has gotten what seems to be ich as of now.
I know the recommended flow for the mini uv is 100-200 gph and from my understanding the mj1200 puts out 295 so that have something to do with it.

Hoping one of my fellow renegades will help me out.

Get a valve on the mj1200
I'm assuming you mean a valve like the ones that come with a reactor and not the small screw type that come with the pump.

If so not sure how it would fit in the chamber w/ a valve. not much room back there for the pump,uv and heater as it is...but i'm open to suggestions.

Ps. Thank you to Duromega for offering to hospitalize my Engineer but when I got home this afternoon he was looking worst and floating at the top of the tank which isn't like him at all so I took him to the LPS, hopefully they can treat him.

@duro what do you think, catch all the fish and bring them to you or just the one showing the signs of ich?

Sent from my HTCONE using Reefs

If one has ich, they all have ich.

A UV will only kill the ich parasites that goes through the unit (as you mentioned, also at the proper flow rate to kill them),. The downside is the parasite tend to settle to the substrate- so unless your intake is near the sand-bed and all of them go in there..you will continue to have ich in your tank.
To eliminate it from the tank, you need the tank to remain fishless for 8-10 weeks, and you will want to not move (trade/sell) any of your corals into another persons tank as ich can be spread that way :(

As I hear it Ich is always present in a tank but it is factors such as temp, salinity etc that determine it becoming a problem.
The Engineer was a bit sick to begin with...A few months back (Oct- Nov I believe) he suffered some Cloudy Eye which I treated him for and he survived obliviously but the eye never healed.
I also noticed prior to doing my last water change that my salinity went up about .5 (1.031). Some already mixed salt water was added to the tank for top off for a few days...Once I noticed what was done I corrected it by doing a water change and lowering the salinity back to 1.026. Maybe the rapid progression and regression shocked the Goby's already weakened immune system cause the ich to take route.

My clowns and 6 LWrasse seem fine and show no signs of ich. I fed them some shrimp dipped in garlic today which them ate with no problem.

Not sure how to go about slowing down the flow of the MJ1200 to ensure the effectiveness of the uv. Anyone with Biocube experience have a suggestion, I'm listening.

..and many will tell you that Ich is most definitely not present in all tanks.
Ich is a parasite, if it has never been introduced, then it cannot be present in a tank.
Yes, your weakest fish will likely show signs of it first, but the only ways you will know for sure if the others are affected is by either disecting their gills or waiting for it to fianlly show on their bodies. With the amount of ich visable on your goby, it is definitely in your tank unfortunately.
I like the following site for Ich info, myths, cures and suggestions. It isn't overly wordy and IMO the most accurate info to be found on the web.

please do take a few minutes and read the page I copied here :)

When I see signs of ich I run a ton of garlic through my juicer. Soak the pellets in the garlic juice and feed my fish with this for about two weeks. It hasn't failed me yet. I'm italian so I don't mind the smell but if you don't like the smell of garlic don't do it.
