With all the things we spend our money on in this hobby I have noticed that some reefers alike myself have traveled from skimmer to skimmer , whether by the desire to find that ultimate skimmer that does what they desire or by trial and error and mechanical failure .........but what is your ultimate skimmer ?
Where have you stopped in the pursuit for the skimmer of your dreams ?

What is the greatest skimmer you have ever owned ?

I have owned six , I-tech 200, cadlight 1100, Swc 120 extreme, tunze 9200, Swc 160, and now a seaside aquatics Cs1 ....the cs1 is my greatest skimmer on my 57 rimless.

My favorite hands down was my vertex alpha 200 with the vectra self cleaning lid. its was awsome very well built .I sold it cause I upgraded to tanks now im waiting for them to come back out with the 300 . Bubble king used to make the skimmer for vertex and paired it up with a red dragon pump .now vertex built a new factory were they make them for themselves .and the make there own pump now from what I understood .although red dragons are very good there also very expensive and hard to get parts for ..if not vertex bubble king would be my next xhoive

I had an ATB 840 and deluxe on my prior tanks. Wish I had a tank large enough to accommodate. Never owned a Bubble King but never heard any bad stories. Have a Vertex Omega on my 50 now. Not a bad skimmer but as mentioned above the vertex alpha's are nice. If the ATB mikro is available I'd get that for the 50 gallon.

I have never ponied up for any of the very expensive skimmers.

I can say that my bubble magus 180-ex is a beast and fairly cheap.

MY CS3 is the sickest skimmer for just pure energy wasting chunk spitting glory

Avasta Marine CS1 and CS3 are a great way to get a much better skimmer and a cheap price by doing what amounts to a kids model worth of work yourself.

The best skimmer I ever used is MTC 250 Beckett skimmer. It's a set it for get it skimmer, if you get the external collection cup you will never have a overflow issue. Thought it does need to be the external skimmer model.
For me it's the best bang for your $$$....

Reef Dynamics

After using my share of skimmers this is what I have settled with
Works from day one no fine tuning needed
