Hey guys,

I ran the skimmer through a vinegar bath (over 24 hours) to try to reduce manufacturers oils, pre-breakin, etc. Ran it through hot water before placing it into my sump and still experiencing a lot of microbubbles 24hours+ later. I know it takes time to break in skimmers (upto a few days) but from all the reviews the skimmer is ready "out of the box".

All the microbubbles seem to be annoying some of my corals. Is there any recommendations?

I will put some filter floss & black "foam" inbetween chambers in a moment to try to reduce the bubble count.

Yes, but overflowing or unable to set the skimmer to a set bubble point? Yes, microbubbles are expected from a new skimmer but you should be able to set a bubble point in the neck, correct? This thing all it's doing is overflowing. Even at about 3-4" it's still overflowing.

I don't mind being patient but ridiculous amount of microbubbles for a skimmer others have said no problems with.

I guess I'll wait another 2 days before I get pissed. ;)

I never use vinegar, it puts a layer of bacteria, is the gate wide open ? also how deep of water is it in ? and you might have something in the water column it is picking up

Your probably right. I used chemiclean almost a week ago (have done 20-30% WC). I didn't have an issue with an established skimmer last time I used it. Probably in the overall picture that is causing an issue but even in a straight water/vinegar solution I was seeing overflow at flow tube at MAX.

I'll have to wait 2 days and do another water change to see if there is any changes.

i have the same skimmer as you and mine would overflow like crazy here and there. Just gotta be patient and let the skimmer do its thing and eventually it should start to be normal

Thank you for the feedback Arthur. Everyone else keeps posting positive feedback and details but not any info on how they experienced bad overflow and microbubbles in the beginning.

Tony - I shut off my media per the directions of Chemiclean and restarted It 48 hours after the WC.
