honestly it sounds like way to much work for me i wouldnt be enjoying this hobbie for so many years if it was some much work i got a 180 do a 40 gallon water change once a month and thats good enough for me and i keep alot of sps and softys and zoas and over 40 fish and feed heavy. I once went 9 months without a water change just regular filtration and my tank was at its best everything was growing so fast and looked so healthy even my polyps got huge

Your tank is awesome looking bro. One day I hope to get to half the level your at. Eventhough I'm not into sps I can't wait for the day I get a couple nice birdnest mini colonies and some caps. Only sps I really like. Oh yeah and pocillopora

Esv,and I'm doing around 40-50 gallons out of a 250 total water volume tank,
You got to come by one day with Richie

Would love to check out your tank, just waiting for your invitation...hahhaha! Btw, how's Jackson's Special doing in your tank? Do you get the crazy color that Rich gets?

I'm doing a 40g monthly out of 200G ish....debating if I should do 20g every week if the benefits are there.

I did not read through this whole thread but if you read more of RHF you will see that you cannot keep up with calcium and alk consumption through water changes. Even continuous water changes. What a continuous water change is going to do is provide a constant export of nutrient and trace element buildup from dosing. The only way to keep things stable is to take things slowly and monitor/test often so you know what your tank is doing and the result of the things you do like dosing or other additives.

I made the plots in Excel. Happy to send you the spreadsheet. PM me and we can figure out how to send it. It seems we can only attach pictures to posts.

My inspiration for the calculation was this Holmes-Farey article

Thanks. No need for the spread sheets. You did a awesome job on the charts. I just wanted to read the analysis and information behind the charts.

I Agree. I Seen His Tank Personally & How Many Fish He Has In His Tank & The Tank Is Amazing. The Corals Are Awesome.
