Chaeto dieoff?

I have never seen chaeto do this before. I had a nice hearty clump for a very long time. All of a sudden, i noticed that the hairs are not as thick and seems like the hairs are thinning out. I did not do anything different. Can chaeto dieoff like that?

I can die off, especially if the nutrients in the tank aren't enough to support it.

Should I get some more? I never had an issue until now with cheato. Have to make moves because my mandarin needs it.

I had some issues get a new batch from some one and try a brighter bulb in ur sump i had similar issues and didcthe trick for me maybe it will do same for u

I noticed this when I stripped the tank using gfo too fast. Can you let us know possible causes? More insight can narrow it down.

What are you using for light?

indeed, but it can also be that your nitrate or po4 levels are too low. In my case, my nutrients were high, so i tried the iron and it worked.
