Anyone buy an achilles tang from central aquarium this weekend? I got the last one yesterday, not eating yet but grazing on rocks. Just wondering if anyone else that got one if it started eating yet.

was he eating in the store? def try nori, also mysis with garlic or selcom usually helps, also do you have any other tangs in the tank that might be picking on him?

They said none of them were eating in the store since they just got the shipment of them. I have a yellow, purple and hippo tang but they dont bother him at all.

try soaking some mysis in garlic, usually i would say try and catch him and put him in a sep tank for quarantine but you might stress him even more, just keep an eye on your other tangs as the yellow and purple might be picking on him, GL

I learned long ago that isolating a fish before introducing him to the main tank is beneficial on so many levels. I hope he starts eating and good luck with that fish its one of my favorite and on my list to get soon.,

They really are a beautiful fish. Just sit back and watch he will eat. He is shocked by his month long excursion. Just think of how you would feel from being caught, bagged and sold then to be caught bagged and sold again so I just think he will eat once he is ready. If you can catch him and isolate him go for it but I wouldn't kill myself trying. Just be patient...

I started in this hobby back in '78 and I won't tell you how many Achilles that I have tried and gone through, they were a notorious fish along with the Regal angel that were very difficult or close to impossible to keep alive back then. Now is a different story but I agree that these type of fish should be purchased "conditioned" or at least put into an established isolation tank until they start eating before releasing into your main tank.

Pecan what is "conditioned" had a buddy but a "conditioned" fish when he picked it up it was still in low salinity water and within a few weeks the fish died anyway. I don't think a "conditioned" fish does anything and is just a way to sell a fish for more money
