That thing looks like either an encrusting gorg or brown star polyps. The only way to get rid of it is to try and peel it off the rocks. It requires alot of work. Give it a shot and see how easy it comes off.

hey Frank,

I had a ton of anthelia growing on my rocks. It was easy to scrape off once you got the rock out of the water and it retracted, it came off in matts.
i don't know what your stuff is but I used a small flat head screw driver to remove the anthelia.

That looks like Star Polyps to me. If you cover them completely from the light they will die off. Can you cover them with strips cut from a black garbage bag. Maybe holding it in place with rubberbands? This way you don't risk damaging anything with boiling water or Kalk Paste.

Had something silmilar before but not as much as you. Can't get rid of it. It just comes back like weed. I ended up cutting the corals from the rock and removed the rock from the tank and let it dry out in the sun. Haven't seen it since.

Use pure salt on it. Pour IO across the whole patch outside of the tank, leave it for 5 minutes. The high salt concentration will literally burn the coral to death. Then rinse the rock with tank water and put it back in the tank.

Just make sure that not too much of the salt ends up back in the tank, i.e. changing your salinity.

This works on all corals! and is great for zoanthid removal.

that means he would have to leave the sps out of water for 5 mins too.

I wouldn't recommend that, :) . However, you could keep the sps wet with tank water during the procedure. Salt would kill SPS.

I would remove the SPS from the rock if it was me. But my advice is just a suggestion, without actually looking at the tank, I would take my advice with a "grain of salt" .

try taking the whole rock out. leave waterless a few mins. have a spray bottle with tank water.at the part where the hydrids is, apply superglue gel. spray coral every 1/2 min. let dry for 3 min n put back in tank.
