If you can take the rock out of water ,you can use wet paper towels (water from you tank) around your sps corals and they will be fine for a while that way ,,you can then do what Slobby suggested .you can also use a wire brush to brush them off ,,either way ,im sure the sps corals will be fine under the wet paper towel so no worries

good luck

it so happens that i also have some of these in my tank. i got a nice colony from frank when my tank crashed and it came with some. i took the coral out and super glued those little "F"'s and they came back on some areas that i glued i did not want to take the coral out again so i used a superglue that came in a plastic bottle and went right in the tank and add the glue on them cause when you take the coral out the tank it's hard to see where there at.. the trick with theglue is to squeeze that bottle and romove right away with out releasing it so no water goes back in the bottle. hope this helps..

I am 95% sure that the coral in question is brown star polyps (you can see the mat in a few of the pics). They can be aggressive and I have seen some of my frags get burned to death by them. Depending on the rock they are on and the type you may be able to peel them off in sheets if you can get under them with a tool (I like to use the clip on a pen cap since it's small and wedge shaped). Peeling can be tedious if you have a ton of them I would just kalk paste or salt them out of the tank like everyone already said. Most SPS can be out of water longer than u think (most reefs do go through a high and low tide daily where corals are exposed for extended periods of time). I wouldn't push it and if you can keep them wet since airborne pathogens can land on them and they have no defense against them.

This thread is from early Dec, I believe Frank fixed this problem. Lets wait for him to answer before we solve the problem again.
