Wasn't sure I could do it but I've gone two months without any fish in my new customized AIO 40g breeder tank because I am paranoid about ich. Now that I'm ready to add fish from my wishlist I was wondering how important the order is and how many at a time. It's been very easy to maintain parameters without any waste in the tank. I've only gotten one or two phosphate spikes because there isn't enough mouths to eat the extra mysis from coral feeding. Mostly softies and a few LPS which are growing like crazy.
My wish list:
Blue Spotted Jawfish (lower temp requirements)
Pair- Onyx or Photon Clowns (maybe Picasso or mocha Vinci)
Diamond Tail Flasher Wrasse (wishful thinking, if not McCosker)
Yasha and Orange Stripe Goby ( already have Randalli and Tiger pistols on opposite sides)
Black cap Basslet
Tailspot Blenny
Helfrichi Firefish
Springeri Dottyback
Red Mandarin (tank overrun with pods)
Blue Chromis
I will try not to add more than two fish at a time but wondering if the order I introduce them has any bearing in keeping a more peaceful tank. Any experience, suggestions, mistakes are appreciated. Thanks

Red Mandarin-- will eventually starve out
Helfrichi Firefish--need a cover on top that has small holes--known to jump easily
Blue Chromis-- eventually getting bigger and ugly
Blue Spotted Jawfish will dig holes and spit sand on corals

If you get the mandarin, you'll need to train it onto frozen mysis before placing it in the tank, Then once it, you'll need a way to target feed it.
The jawfish and the blenny will also be tough to feed, if you have clowns and a wrasse in there.
Imagine trying to feed your randall's goby if you had 3 or 4 other fish grabbing food before it can get to the bottom.

If you drop the aggressive swimmers/ feeders, of the clowns, wrasse, chromis, basslet and dottyback, you can go with the rest.

I went to Manhattan aquarium last Friday to pick up an apex Jr and they also had almost everything on my list. After seeing the blue dotted Jawfish I couldn't resist. I also picked up the yasha goby. An expensive trip, haven't set up the apex yet , still trying to justify the purchase. I quickly made a custom acrylic top and over time will slowly add more holes. Added more sand and turned off my thermometer.Temp holding steady at 77.5 degrees with no fluctuations. I luckily had a hollow live rock which I dug into the substrate. Everybody eating like pigs but there BDJ has yet to find the hollow rock, for now he just hangs out in the rock work. The Yasha quickly paired up with the tiger goby. So far so good, no more fish for at least a month.

I did do a lot of research on this fish but somehow missed anything about the blue dotted Jawfish disease. I wonder if it really exists or if they just didn't have the right environment. Sounds a lot like ich, hope I never find out. Here's a pic of the acrylic top, will be adding about 16 more holes for maximum vent.
