that's a crazy high number to be getting out of the DI,
with a starting TDS of 38 you should be at 0.
and you said the filters were new? what about the DI cartridge.
just curious for the DI is it one of those disposable cartridges or
the replaceable resin holders?

pressure - Pressure 75 PSI (I manually set it by using the booster pump and restricting the feed a bit)
TDS at the tap - 38 ppm
TDS of the permeate - Heh?:scratchch
TDS of the DI output - 26 ppm
GPD capacity of the membrane - 75 GPD

Permeate = the water purified by an RO membrane. You have two outputs from the membrane housing. One carries waste water, one carries permeate.

I don't know what brand of membrane you have, or what kind of shape its in, but assumming it is a good quality membrane in good working order, If your tap water is 38 ppm,

your permeate should be 1 or 2 ppm

and your DI output should be 0

Your DI resin ought to last a long, long time.

The reading of 26 from your DI is pretty bad - I bet you a dollar the water coming in to your DI is cleaner than the water coming out of the DI.

So, first off, please get a tds reading from the permeate before it enters the DI resin.

When you take tds readings, collect your sample in a squeeky clean glass container, and allow the system to run for 5 minutes before you take your sample. If you are using the same sample container (e.g., a drinking glass) take the reading from your DI output first, then your permeate, then your tap water (i.e., start with the cleanest water first).

Sometimes troubles people report stem from erroneous tds readings.

If your first set of readings were accurate, your DI resin is long ago exhausted, and there is a very high chance it is doing more harm than good at this point.

I am using the Typhoon III from Air water ice: http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1TYPHOONIII

I tried taking a TDS reading with RO only and it was 13 ppm. Then I tried a TDS reading through the RO only with the DI Bypass on it was 0 ppm.

All filters and the membrane are brand new. The membrane is made by DOW. I think I may be doing something wrong with the DI bypass. I had it off. I wonder if it should be on?

The 26 ppm reading I gave you was the permeate. I just didn't know what I was doing.

So,
Tap=38
RO permeate=13
DI = 0

Correct?

If so, there is something wrong with your membrane. The purified water out of your membrane (aka permeate) should be around 2 or so.
