Hey everyone. My name is andrew.
I am new here and i figured i would share info on what i am doing

I have not had a tank in 10 years and have missed it dearly so i decided to pick up a 125 off a friend and get back into it. He have me equipment that i just didnt like after researching whats out there. So i drilled my tank and made a pvc bean style overflow which i absolutelt love. Looks better then an overflow box in my opinion and saves me space between tank and the wall. I also saw these fancy sump companies so i decided to build my own how i wanted. Here are some pics so far as the build is still in progress.

I drilled the tank for 1" bulkheads in 3 spots for 3 drain pipes. Main siphon, secondary and emergency.
1.5" overflow pvc tubes with slots cut about 1/3 deep for the water to skim off the top.

Those both are some sexy sumps, but acrylic is kind of expensive nowadays. Besides being customizable and the I built it myself feel, I can imagine if you're paying someone for all the laser cutting. It's going to run close to a trigger system or something when all said and done? I'm still cutting with a table saw like a caveman.

Actylic is expensive these days because of the regulations we have about making it here in the states. It all needs to be imported. Besides nothing is made in the states anymore. It doesnt matter what the industry. I did use a table saw for my cuts and jut used a laser for the detailed stuff. Though even if i couldnt get it laser cut i would have used a jig/band saw to do the cuts. Or a cnc/router. Laser is stupid expensive also if you do not have somewhere you can go. I was actually quoted $400 for the one cut of the top sheet

That's true, $400 for one cut that would have put the built to the price for more than two trigger system sumps Lol. I really like your Atari style overflow teeths with the laser cuts. No way would I be able to produce teeth that clean with my drills, table saw, jig saw, router etc. that's extra sexy points right there alone. There is also a lot of cleaning to be done after cutting with barbaric tools. Those laser cuts seem really clean.

You talking about the cuts in the overflow tubing on my tank? If so i hand cut those with a chop saw lol

Na, the fuge baffles of the sump. Reminds me of Atari breakout or paceman because of the line and three dots. Really interesting baffle teeth design.

I really enjoy building things, I have a few more sumps to build for people then I think I might build some custom LED lighting.

Anyone else here big DIYers and would want to get in on the same projects and maybe source our parts together for better pricing?

Thank You.

Im down for any DIY.
Im thinking LED fixture next controlled by a raspberry pi with different folor modes and auto timer. And eventually use the raspberry to also control auto dosing feeding and top off
