Yes it's true, however, we're known as House of Fish on Manhattan Reefs. We'll be known as JD's Aquatics at NERAC and thereafter.

Thanks for noticing and we look forward to seeing all our Manhattan Reef buddies at the show.

Ah, the grapes are getting sweeter with age

BUT, as Russ mentioned, we will be repping our dry goods and livestock as well. Very excited - we will also be displaying the Aquatinics fixtures which use IceCap products and some othe dry goods lines we carry - very excited as well.

Thanks for all the MR support and we'll see you at 4:30am at Atlantis :)

Whats the "D" in JD stand for??

Sorry, we thought it was obvious. JD stands for Jim duh! Hope that clears things up a bit :fishhit:

Thanks for asking Pierce. I know we'll see you at NERAC. Anybody else coming?

No worries Chuck. It's all good. Looking forward to meeting you at the event too. Make sure to jump up and down waving your arms saying I'm Chuck, I'm Chuck when you come to our booth ;)

http://www.neracli.com/Speakers.htm

I have seen 5 out of the 6 people that are presenting, some multiple times.. And the one guy I have not seen worked at my LFS in cali where I used to buy stuff from. Not to take anything away from their presentation, just not interesting enough for me to get up that early on a weekend and take the drive.

My interpretation of the "mission statement" given by LIRA leadership for NERAC changes every year, frankly I think its all for wrong reasons and I am not sure majority of the members supported it in the past two years. I think I was one of the few LIRA members that paid to attend the first NERAC, most others did not pay. It's funny how the club needed to host this event in order to raise cash for speaker(s) to fly in on monthly meetings, they never got anyone to "fly in" for the subsequent 12 months I was a member:confused:.

Hey "House Guys"--so glad you're making it down. It was nice to meet you at the MR frag swap last fall. Bringing any livestock to NERAC? I'll be set up with the vendors too (at the Reading Trees booth) so I'll see you there--

Ah yes, the old "he said she said" about the club business. Every club has its controversy, and at least one unsatisfied member. I was concerned too about club finances, so rather than quit and complain about it, I joined the board so I could do something to change it. I read the financials--and yes, NERAC does serve to bring people and funds into the club, but we did have speakers--Fernando Nostrapour on parasitic flatworms, a system design-and-build talk by a member, a how-to demonstration on how to build a tank by Anthony Calfo...and that was just in the last three months! Next meeting we have a talk by someone who build a geothermal chiller--what a cool idea, and it takes almost no power to run. And no club money was diverted, aliens didn't take it away and have a trip to Fiji, it's all there still. That money is going to pay for this year's NERAC speakers, plus a list in the coming months of people we are trying to book. IF you have suggestions of speakers you'd like to see, let's start a new thread, and I can bring the suggestions to the board. I'm always happy to hear about a new speaker idea.

As for this year's speakers being old and boring, not all of us have the means or opportunity to travel to the big conferences. If I went to MACNAs and IMACS, I would have seen these speakers before too, but most of the club and the Northeast folks don't get to go to distant conferences, so to see even 6 speakers in a weekend is a great opportunity. And not only that, but the speakers don't always give the same talk year after year. For example, last year Mr. Calfo talked about the buisiness of coral farming, and this year is doing a hands-on workshop on how to take great pictures with your own camera. For me (and likely a lot of hobby people), I am not so jaded and experienced that I don't think I can learn anything new.

(Now I'll get really sales-y :) ) Plus what does NERAC have that the big conferences don't? Atlantis Aquarium. You can listen to the lectures and then go see the systems that were described in "behind the scenes" tours. And a banquet with stellar food, served right in front of the reef tanks, AND a live blues band.

Sounds like a good time to me...

We're looking forward to it no matter what - yes we'll also have a livestock tank and a skimmer demo tank as well as live rock that we'll sell at the end of the show to some lucky attendee.

We'll aslo have some select dry goods as well.

Look forward to seeing you there - I'll come over to say hello.

Well for those members interested in aquarium photography, there's a great opportunity. You also get to see the Atlantis. I donated a large leather to them one time, so i love going there to see it.

But think about the photo workshop, might be worth a drive.

As a member whos membership is about to expire im atleast glad to see the new members of the board attempting to address some concerns from us older/former members.
As for NERAC i dont think ill be making this years event. I was at the first 2 and it is very informative. I dont think anyone would have a bad time!
