I had two. You will NEVER see them.... I had them in a 24g and i never seen them.

They also eat starfish which i didn't find out till i put one into the tank, but that was my fault for relying on web sourses and not a book. That was probably the only time i seen them is when they went for the starfish.

Yes they are cool and funny looking but i can guarantee you that you'll never see them to enjoy them unless you throw a star into the tank

Grish, I got myself a flaming prawn goby a while ago knowing that i will probably never see him again. The little sucker was 3/4 of an inch when i got him and they grow to 1 1/2 inches or so. He cought my eye and i had to get him.

I see him once or twice a week if i'm looking at the base of my rockwork and if i'm lucky, but everytime i see him i get just as excited as when i first had him in the pail acclimating him and saying how cool he was. Seeing him once in a blue moon makes having him that much better, he gives me a little smile knowing he's still around and doing well.

If i could i'd get a tank full of them and them alone but then i wouldn't have a pod population at all in the tank. :lol2:

Dunno if that helped. If ya really like the little shrimp and really want him knowing fully whats going to happen when you let him loose in your tank, and can accept that go for it. I'm pretty sure he'll give ya a little surprise every once in a while.

Surfer is right they are related to harlequin shrimp. They do eat stars, however they are TINY for the most part. The largest I have seen could fit entirely on a nickel with room to spare. They are cool and you don't see them often in the trade but you will also never see them in the tank. It is cool to see something in your tank show up from time to time like Tosiek said, it's like christmas everytime you see them lol.

i saw these @ NWA this weekend too and i honestly wouldn't put these guys in anything bigger than a pico.

IMHO these are no good for a 40br. if they eat stars like harlequins then get harlequins instead. my harlequins stay out in the open almost all the time and i think are much nicer looking.
