External overflow ??

I am building new tank and it has a lg external overflow box with 3 1 1/2 drains do I need to add 3 PCs pipe to bring water level in overflow even with the openings that water flow from ?
Durso pipe I think it’s called?

Do the bean animal overflow. It’s what I run. Silent, moves a ton of water and you have the emergency overflow if needed.

Matt the only thing I would add are screens on the the drain inlets because we know wrasses especially always find there way into the overflow box....better to find them alive in the box rather than after the ride through the pipes....
