Dripping Kalk for the first time. I have a 70gal. and it evaporates about 1gal a day. I would like to use kalk for that. Would that be good to drip?? Any advise would be appreciated....

Mix gently and do not add vinegar, IMO. Add the vinegar later on if you feel your system needs it.

Good luck,

A PH isn't needed, especially for only a gallon of makeup water. 3-4 hrs is enough to let it sit, then drip away!

Good luck.

How many corals and what kind do you have? Ca usage depends on the number of stony corals, coraline growth.

My tank has been set up for a year now. Just now turning it into a reef tank. Allready have a cleanup crew and a few fish. It's been dripping all night now. Im going to let it drip today too until it runs out. I'll check the parameters later today. I think it should be fine. Just a little worried about dripping it during the day.

I would recommend doing it now. So, your system gets ready as you load corals in it. I use a Kent valve and mix Kent kalk in a 6 gallon rubbermaid container. If your cycle is already stable, add a cleanup crew to it.

I just use a paint stick from Home Depot, drill a couple of holes on the stick and just mix the solution. Then, i connect my Kent valve drip system tube to the 6 gallon container and let it drip away. Usually, it doesn't start dripping right away. It takes about 30 min. or so then it slowly drips.
