Huh, I had no idea the one on Ozreef was so complex.. I've heard of people making simpler designs using an old Bicycle Spoke. Supposedly those suped up super-duper racing rim's sometimes use Titanium spokes. One fellow even was able to go down to his local Cycle shop and got a few Broken spokes out of their scrap pile for free. You don't need much, just the bit that goes into the water. Connect up the other end to some copper wire, attach that to the ground on an outlet, plug it into the wall, you're done!
I have wanted to build my own with titainium bicycle parts but when I purchased the spoke I noticed the package had a label ( 80% titainium 15% aluminum and 5% copper) Titainum is OK aluminum and copper are real problems in a reef. Bike shops could care less about reef tank DYI's. I found out no bike parts are pure titainum... Dale

I just put in an order with PA. It came to around $70. As I was completing the order, I was offered a special deal, a titatium ground probe for $11 and change.
Give Jason at PA an e-mail and see what he can do for you. He was always been super responsive in answering my few e-mail.
I was at petco yesterday (only to pick up a 10g tank) and saw they had a clearance on coralife titanium probes for $11.99

I got the one from the Champion link above.
I am very satisfied.
Seems like an easy DIY project now that I see what's going on.
But atleast my tank now has a ground probe.
