Why don't you just use kalk, the "balanced" PH raiser? Adding baking soda raises your Alk and causes Ca to go out of wack:smash:

Well, I got my new float switches tonight and so I'll be dosing kalk shortly. The pH is about the same after not being here for 24 hours, so maybe my tank is out of whack and it's not the smoke, or maybe it takes longer for the lack of smoking to have an effect.

My ph in the morning is around 7.7-7.8 In the daytime it goes up to about 8.0-8.1. My tank is below level and air tight in the winter that is why I think it run`s so low at night. My tank is fine and all of my corals are healthy and growing. I do have a calcium reactor and I don`t dose kalk.....

i imagine heat in the winter can lower the pH as well.
