Did I miss something. I though some one asked how big the tank was and I still have not seen a response. I see its HUGE, but would really like to know the actual size. The tank looks outstanding!

Hello Craw, I thought that this was common knowledge. You obviously haven't checked out the Morish Idol thread. Dimensions are as follows, tank has been running since 2nd April 2002:-

11ft x 2.5ft x 2.5ft with a 7ft x 2ft x 1.5ft of which 4 foot of the sump is a refugium. Filled with 3 types of Calerpa. The average turnover in the tank is approx 65000 litres per hour, of which is all controlled by the Octopus. Lighting equates to 634 watts per metre square, of which I wish to upgrade sometime in the near future. Filtration is 300+ kilograms of grade A Fuji live rock combined with a turboflotor 5000 twin. There are 30 different species of fish and a large range of various clean up crew. My SG is 1.024 (reef crystals) Water changes are carried out at 90 gallons per fortnight - religiously. My calcium is running at 460 ppm, which is helped along by daily additions of kalkwasser and a korallin reactor running at 70 bubs co2 per minute which gives me a return flow of 30+kh which gives me in the tank a kh of 11 and an alk of 4.2. My temperature is 25.5 in the winter and 27 in the summer. The reason for running a lower temperature in the summer is to cut down on condensation.Hope that has helped.

Just curious. How much money do you have in that tank? and what do you do for a living... I need to get into your line of work.

With a tank like that, I'd be selling tickets to see it!

Great set-up. How much does a tank like that cost a month to maintain?

Looks very good.

GT, the leading theory on clownfish selection of host anemones is that a chemical is given off by the anemone, which the fish can sense. The idea is that the eggs receive this cue while still attached to the rock and in contact with the anemone. I guess this might be why some captive reared clowns seem indifferent towards anemones, since they were never in contact with one during the egg stage. It's strange that they would immediately go to your H. magnifica, since this is not their natural host (Entacmaea quadricolor). Who knows what's going on in their heads! I would be very watchful of the pair, though. From what it sounds like, they are 2 undifferentiated juveniles. Maroon juveniles anywhere near the same size, I mean one NOT twice the size of the other, will usually fight to the death. I have seen fully matured maroon pairs that are pretty similar in size, although I hear this is not very common. My maroon female is about three times the size of the male, and he shows no signs of getting any bigger. Can you estimate their size in inches..er sorry centimeters? Or pics? :D

gt you mention caulerpa in your sump. is this for pH regulation? i'd be interested in hearing more about your experience in this area, as it is something i am interested in setting up.
