Teevee, that's gross generalization. One should also take into consideration the fish's swimming habit, eating habit, socialization aggressiveness, size at maturity and available swimming space.....etc. Treat keeping fish as if you are adopting a dog or cat. Most of fish keepers do, and so should everybody else.

It's just that if you have tons of typos and grammar mistakes, your message gets garbled. For example, what the he!! is 'gorra'??? I assume you mean 'gotta', but because it's not a commonly accepted and known word, the meaning gets diminished and communication breaks down.

I'm not pointing fingers or taking sides here, I just want to play devil's advocate to help clarify 'the other side' of the 'good grammar' argument.

Why is what danmhippo said crazy talk? When you speak of stocking tanks I think bio-load is one thing to consider, but there are so many others. If social behavor has no role could I stock a Clown Trigger with a Goby?? Last I checked the answer was no :?

Threads that degrade into "because I said so", he said/she said arguments, and nitpicking of grammar; and sppellng don't do anyone a bit of good.

Does anyone remember the original intent of this thread? I doubt it. A relatively new poster came seeking stocking advice.

It's pretty simple folks. Provide facts, possibly some anecdotal personal experience, and let the poster make an educated decision based on your posts. Don't agree with someone else's advice? Fine. Provide count and counterpoint, but keep it civil.

I can't speak for the rest of the moderators, but my time here is limited. I would prefer to spend it in adult discussions educating and communicating with others, and not playing referee or babysitter.

Reefs.org provides a free resource to you that is much more than a bulletin board. There is an extensive library on a variety of topics, a chat channel for talking with other hobbyists in a real-time environment, an online magazine with some of the best authors around, and much more.

The board is what you make of it. It is by the hobbyist, for the hobbyist. Instead of driving people away with closed minds, accept them with open arms. If they're no longer here, they can no longer learn. That is to the detriment of all, including the animals we keep in our little glass boxes.
