Hi everyone,

The test when very well, only a few drops at one of the threaded fitting, not bad for having over 120 glue points. The bubbles in the tank was me forcing air into the closed loops to see the flow.

I am slowly filling the sump with RO/DI and I will be putting the sand in the main tank to night.

I will be wiring the lights to hide the wires and I am not putting stand pipes in the overflow as of yet.

Pretty interesting setup? So the intakes are the forked wide diameter?

make sure that you can get to the strainers on the intakes once you fill it with rock. Once they clog up you'll be happy you did. I just had to blow out the closed system strainer in a 2000g cylinder tank last week because it was buried and inaccessible. I had to tee off the open return into the closed intake to blow debris from the strainer. Not hard to do, but if you can avoid that situation I'd advise it!

HI,

Yes I will not bury the strainers, just for that reason :)

Here is a few pics of the DSB. I put 600 Lbs of SD sand in at lunch today.

Hi dan,

Yes I have 2 closed loops. Both have jandy actuated ball valves that will switch every 5 mins or so. Each closed loop has to returns one on the end and the other return is on the inside of the other side, LOL.

Its a criss-crossing double loop

Go to my other thread links I put on this link a few posts up.

I have read the threads about your lighting before but I forget. Whats the K rating on those 400w MH's. I am thinking about doing 3 on my 210g. What do you recomend more 10,000 or 20,000k?
thanks,
JJ
BTW I love your closed loop. I am planing on ripping out all my LR this summer and putting in a closed loop.

First, your setup is gorgeous. Maybe in 20 or 30 years after my kids that haven't been born yet are out of college I can do something like that! ;-)

Here's a totally minute question/idea though...From your pics of the fish room, I see that you have embedded lighting in the ceiling. I wonder if at night you could get any sort of very dim moon-like lighting from those into the tank...?

Hi John,

Yes that is a good idea. Of course I wired all the 9 lights together in the ceiling. So Id have to re-work.

I wounder if the make moon light for inside flood lights?
