jime, a review on the chiller cant be done yet since i still havent got around to installing it, but visually it is better insulated then the custom sea life model, i spoke with steve @ pacific coast importer's who distribute the chillers and he says that they are the most efficiant unit's on the market today, we shall see about that. also says that they are coming out with new models in about 8 to 10 weeks with a better thermostat unit wich will be more sensitive to temp controll + or - 2 degree's difference compared to 4 degree diff on this unit, 2 degree diff in c and 4 degree diff in f. mouse, where my pluming route's too, i dont know were too start with that question but chiller and closed loop route to the garage and back, drain goe's to the sump, and from the sump two iwaki's send it back up to the tank. closed loop flow, well that's a tuff one but since i dont have a lot of head for the ampmaster 4700, i figure maybe at the most 4000 gallon's per hour , and on the sump return's two iwaki 100's maybe 1500 gph at the most on each. leopard shark / marco the chiller isen't as big as it looks but for around $ 800.00 i grabbed it quick lol :) .

well i am very luckt to this day, the tank did not cycle at all after adding 300 lbs of fully cured year and a half old rock, currently i have three fish in the system, yellow tang, kole tang and a red sea sail fin tang, and they all get along great. most of the corals are starting to look better after the move and starting to extend there polyp's and color's are coming back, but i did lose five awsome colony's while in the vats waiting to be transfered. i will give it atleast another couple of months of time/ water testing, ph, ca , alk etc etc, for the system to become more stable before adding any more acro's or fish.

Looking great, but if I were you I would transfer all the acros to your tank today. I think every day they spend in the other container they will be closer to die.
JMHO
BTW, when I set up my 300, I introduced my old acros after 3 days that the tank was running. I didn´t loose a single fish nor coral.

marco i dont think you understand what i said in my last post but, i did transfer all the coral's into the main tank, but while i tore down my old tank i had too keep the acro's in 100 gallon vats, it took about 2 months to tear down the old tank, convert it into a sump, reframe the wall, biuld a much stronger stand, biuld out into the garage too have more room for the new tank, install the new tank, do all the pluming, sheetrock the new wall's, test the system for leaks, reinstall the lighting system, plus some other option's etc etc so in the meen time i had too house the acro's in another location during all this construction ,which the condition's weren't ideal for acro's and thats were i lost some of my favorites.

mogo, the tape inwich you refer too is insulation rapped in tape. those pluming lines run to a chiller for a large tank, octopus/ cold water so they insulate the lines for practical reasons.

well i spent some of the afternoon removing my old chiller, a 1/3 hp wich was running all day to keep the tank temp were i like it79f, and removed the old pluming and installed my new chiller, a 1/2hp pacific coast chiller and let me tell you it pulled the temp down 1 degree in about 1 hour compared to the 1/3 unit wich took all day, i hope this equals lower electrical bills in the future lol 8) . i let everyone know how that goe's and chiller longevity , will have to see, happy reefing.

well i finally got tired of messing with the ampmaster 4700, i clean the seal, and 4 days later it leaks again. i broke down and got a sequence pump and this baby is biult ten times better then the ampmaster. it has a more user friendly face plate with large easy to work with hardware and for a littile more money i think i got a better pump. i draws the same as far as amps and the motor is fan cooled. i wish i looked into this sooner but got caught up in the ampmaster craze.

Does the chiller have 3/4 or 1 inch in/outputs? I was told that you can use either, but it looks like you have 1 inch reduced to 3/4 at the chiller.

jime, here is a pic of the access door i biult into the side of the tank and sump on the bottom for routine maintnice. the 1'' pipe over the chiller feeds it wich is feed into the bottom bulkhead on the chiller and the other 1'' pipe goe's to a mak4 pump back to the tank. the pump gets plenty of water and doe's not strain one bit / cavitate thru the 1'' feed.

Looks like you got the pro model, yes? Last year, I originally bought the Pro but was told they were discontinuing it. They sent me the standard 6000SEQ and refunded the difference in price. :(
