As far as that inches of fish thing...
It seems fairly common to see stocking densities with seahorses that you'd never consider in "normal" fish. Check out the stocking density article on syngnathid.org and you'll shudder. Never understood it myself. I think folks tend to severely underestimate the burden that seahorses place on a system.

I got them at a LFS, Turnpike Pet Center in Fairfield, CT. I've seen them on Liveaquaria.com, though they seem to be always out of stock.
