So far so good with the fish     , he is doing alot better (still unsure as to what was going on with him) however, he is still under heavy observation and the hospital tank is running quite well.

As for the crab, when I originally put him in the tank, there was quite a bit of hair alage and after the first few days of those guys being in there there has bee none. I figure the crab may have starved. (poor thing) :( :( :(

I don't think it was molting, because it was upside down, legs not moving and the flap on the underside was peeled back. Also, I think the choco chip got to the crab after its demise.

Actually, it is easy to mistake a cast-off molt shell (shell with gaping cavity along the rear) for a dead crab.

Only way to tell is: Are there innards in the shell? If so, your crab, unfortunately, is toast :( If no innards, it's either (a) toast, and eaten, or (b) molted. If toast and eaten, the shell is generally in multiple pieces (depending on what ate it).

Glad to hear Dizzy's better.

Maybe it was the crab and now that he's dead he cannot attack the tang anymore. The more I look at the photo the more it resembles an attack. My clown does damage like that to the other fish every once and a while.
