Oceanic salt seems to be getting popular now. Since the scare over bad batches of IO, which I've used as long as I can remember, I'm starting to think that it might be time to think about switching. My question is how many people here are using Oceanic, and how well do you think it is performing?

I've been using IO forever, but I'm considering trying Kent or Oceanic next time around. I have 2 5gal. samples of Oceanic I should try.

I started using Oceanic a little over a month ago, chiefly because it offered acceptable Mg++ and Ca++ levels right out of the box. I had become tired of having to "doctor" IO or Kent or ...... to get the Ca++ > 400 ppm & Mg++ > 1300 ppm. The only down-side is it mixes up to a pH of 8.0 and an Alk of about 7.5 dKH. The pH isn't too much of an issue since I'm dosing kalk. I'm also running a Ca++ reactor, so the alk. isn't cause for concern either.

Most importantly, my animals seem happy as ever, and at $40 for a 200 gallon bucket, I'm smiling too.

in my tank,
I guess from the lower pH

other then that, I like it.

especialy the 90 gal containers.
