Where has everyone been able to buy the cheapest clams online? I want to buy a few dozen but not spend my life savings.

You need to check around... how about clamdirect.com or exoticfish.com?

If you want the most expensive place to buy clams, you can always PM me... ;)

I got really nice ultra maximas from Harbor Aquatics for very cheap, but that was some time ago. I think it's greatly variable based on who gets what at what times. If you have a good LFS in your area, sometimes they're cheaper IME (at least the one next to me are, especially factoring in shipping).

If you ask me, LFS is the way to go as long as you find a reasonable one as Len indicated.

Support your retailer!
Only in a retail store do you get the chance to scrutinize it, ask questions and observe it.
Why buy a 'pig in a poke' online when what you fantasize about is more often then not a let down when the 'tumbled and conveyer belted' package arrives?
Imagination and reality only match up in a retail environment consistantly.

I also agree with going to a local retailer. You may get a decent price online, but shipping for a dozen or so clams will erase any savings. Try negotiating a direct pay. You could prepay a portion of the wholesale buy for the store and take your pick of what arrives. It would seem fair to give you lower price since the store won't have to acclimate and house the whole shipment.

Paying a portion upfront will definitely make negotiations for the final price much easier for you.

If you're new to clams I would not recommend buying 'a dozen' at a time.
If you have experience and an established system there are excellent sponsors of RDO online that can help you decide.
Size and species will dictate cost. Looking for a dealer in your region to reduce shipping costs is also a good idea.
There are a variety of farmed and wild clams being imported these days.
Hope this helps

My retailer attempted to convince me that $60 was a good price for a plain 20gallon glass tank. Lets forget about him. Also - last month I bought several clowns, salt, small corals, etc.... ($240 worth) and 1 of the clowns died overnight - do you know the cheap bastard wouldnt even replace him!

I don't mean to poke fun :) , but PINKWORLD sounds more like a shop for lingerie or sex toys. You don't want to make the mistake of asking for clams in those places.
