Help Please!!! MH problem

My 150 watt MH won't light up. The balist is on but the only thing it is doing is giving off a small humming noise. Does anyone know whats wrong. Thanks, Nick

Hey nick did u try letting it cool down?

leave it off for say 30 min to let it cool down. double check all the connections/contacts, then try again. if you have more than one bulb, try swithcing around the bulbs/ballasts to try and narrow down the source of the problem

is this fixture new? was it previously on? if it was on before, you may need it to cool down before it'll fire again. also, if you're turning it on for the first time, it may take a few minutes to fire. lastly, i'd check the connections with the bulb. there may just be something loose. remember not to touch the bulb!

Thanks guys, Im gonna let it sit for a while then if that dosen't work I'm gonna work from the bulb back. Never a dull day!! Nick

Ok guys after about two hours, the ballist finally fired up. It had to be on for about a half an hour to 1 hour before it fired up. The system is only 4 months old and has been working well to this point. Do you think it is a sighn of the ballist going bad, or the bulb. I really don't think its the bulb, but who knows. thanks for your comments and support guys. Nick:thrash:
