Oh yeah, something tells me, wings, that you've never witnessed what happens "When Good Tangs Go Bad!" I bet you've never even seen a Naso shred through double newsprint lined shipping bags. Let me put it this way, you might be able to do as good a job with your Ginsu knife, but you'll never be able to do it as quickly. 8O (In other words, it ain't a purty sight!)

Nate, from what I understand, all kinda tang is good eating. ;)

The only problem with message boards is if all you're looking for is one person to tell you that something is ok, you can find it. They didn't even give you bad advice, (these fish can get along well) they should have just probably mentioned tank size. I felt obliged to bring it up, and got rolly eyes for my trouble ;)

Genus is important, as is fish size, introduction order, AND tank size. A 55 gallon will not suit your naso long term, adding a yellow would not help.

I'm not saying to take the Naso out of the 55. I wouldn't have put it there but if it is doing good there is no point in removing it IMO. I would not however add another tang in the same tank now. I think that would be flirting with disaster.

FWIW, Nathan

take the naso out and put him on the floor....he doesn't belong in the tank

Thanks montypjen, I think that's best. I'll add some salt and make some tang jerky.

not...sump... Must...control...dirty...mind!!! Aaaahhhhhhggggghhhh!!!!

I know, I know...first thing I thought of was that rare Californian species "Marina's tang" (Acanthurus marinas)...of course, I'd not need it cooked...I'd eat it raw. ;)

Anyway, to get back on topic here...

Wings, is there any way you can trade that tang back to the lfs? Maybe trade it for a yellow? That way when you upgrade, you can get the naso.

Peace,

Chip

I'm in agreement with npaden on this one: if the Naso is doing great in its current situation, I wouldn't move it until you set up the new tank. I wouldn't add another tang to the tank.

I'm not trading jack. The tang is in best health, and is perfectly fine. If it gets too big, I'll fry and eat it.

Len, as always, thanks for your input.

Just to needle a bit, I wonder why it is that people (in general) are so polite to Len and impolite to others that give the exact same advice. :?

With respect, isn't that kinda lame? Don't we want a community where we listen to and respect each other without needing a 'ref' to come in?

It's very lame, especially when my question regarding species was answered in just a few posts. Everything else was a (oh shall I say it?).... TROLL

I currently have a Nasso tang, a model citizen at that. I'd like to add a yellow tang. I haven't done it yet, but want to do a little research before. Are these two going to fight?

Wings, Your question mentioned nothing about species. You asked if these fish would get along and were told that it depended on the size of tank they were in. You repeatedly berated anyone who told you that the ability of these fish to get along was dependent on the size of the tank. You appear to be the only one trolling in this thread to me.

Just because these tangs are from a different genus does not mean that they will get along.

You obviously are going to just do whatever you feel like regardless of the quality advice that has been given to you.

I give up. Nathan
