Well just wanted to share my latest purchase. I picked up 2 juvi M. melegris and a juvi M. bipartitus this weekend at the LFS. They were in the best shape of any leopard wrasses I've ever seen coming into the LFS. They are about 2.5" and are also the smallest ones I've seen by far.

I'm hoping that my adult M. melegris female will possibly change to a male now but know that it still might not happen.

All of the newcomers are in the tank and have been dong great and are already eating out of the water column. The M. bipartitus took a day long nap on Saturday but has been out and about all day today. None of the other fish seem to be hassling them much at all. My adult female M. melegris checked them all out initially but since then hasn't seemed to pay much attention to them.

Here are a few pics:

Hopefully I will be posting more and more pics of these guys for several years down the road!

They are awesome fish to be sure. I bought one two weeks ago. It was eating frozen in the store and it was tiny. Only about 1.5 inches. So far he is very active and eating well. I wanted to buy two, but the other one wasnt interested in frozen food at all so I passed on him. I was sort of stockpiling pods for a mandarin, but I like this wrass much better. Not shy at all and sometimes he even flashe his reflection. Totally cool fish. Im so glad I stumbled upon this treasure. Good luck with yours.

Although I know I should QT more than I do, these are one fish that really should not go through a typical QT process.

There was an article in www.reefkeeping.com on them in June of 2002 that covers pretty much everything you need to know about them. I don't go quite so far as the article suggests in covering the tank and stuff but you need to make sure you have the proper tank setup for them to thrive IMO.
