Well, I lost the camera in the 'divorce' from the ex, so I just have to remember to bring a camera from work here home on my lunch to take some pics...I'm gonna walk up to the photo lab now and see if one's available. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Peace,

Chip

Delt with the micro bubble problem today. I had added a free standing baffle, but the bubles were just overpowering it. So I tuned the drain a bit and the bubbles and the last of the slurping sound went away. The algae is receeding, but is it doing a number on the frags I got. Shows me for rushing to get new corals. I have lost about a 1/3 and another 1/3 are looking really bad.

Same things happened to me when I last set up the 180, Wazz. That's why I went slower this time before adding frags to the 30. My patience paid off, and everything is doing well. Wait a bit before your tank clears again, and then add frags.

Peace,

Chip

Thanks guys and gals. I knew this had a high possibility of happening. I got ahead of myself. It took so long to get it all together, I was in a hurry and I know better. I'll be tanking some shote around the 1st of April. I want to compare to what was there the 1st of march.

I tore the tank apart today and scrubbed all of the rocks. It looks better. I also dunked and rinsed all of the rocks in SW. Boy did they spew some crap. When I rescaped I got a full collection cup of really foul stuff in about 6 hours. I added 8 more snails today. I hope this scrub down is enought to give the snails a leg up.

Added 42 mixed snails and 2 blue leg micro hermits this past weekend. The rock scrubbiing seamed to help and the additional snails are mowing the stuff down. I could not help myself and got a teal acro and a green and chocolate humilis (SP??) frag.

Sad update.

Hurricane Katrina claimed my tank. My wife was home with the movers packing our house the day before the storm hit. She was not able to evac my critters and I could not make it down to get them. I have still not been able to get to the house to retrieve my tank. I think I am going to take a little time off to regroup. I plan on restarting sometime in the next six months.

Waz, Sorry to hear about that. I hope your house is not to bad so you can sell it eventually.

When you get the tank going again and ready for corals, I will ship you some frags. (If I have a tank left myself).

Best of luck.

Hey Wazzell. Looks good... I hope you win your battle with the HA. Can't you siphon some of it out? I use the tubing (without the gravel vacuum attached) and pinch the HA between my thumb and the end of the hose and pull it out and let the siphon pull it out. That way you reduce the spread by pulling it out with water changes. Also, those suction cup soap holders work GREAT for holding frags and it allows you to get them up closer to the lights and completely off the HA.

Thanks, but I doubt that I have anything left alive in my tank. It has been with out power for a week due to Katrina. I do plan on cleaning and cooking my rocks before I start over. Hopfully by Christmas I will have it back up and starting to stock.
