Anyone use those Zoo Med oscillating power heads? I had to get one, it was only 20 bucks... They really arent that bad but I would still rather have a tunze steam.

The general consensus is that if they worked better over time they would be great. They tend to gum up and stop oscillating.

Yep, they only move back and forth for about a week in my experience, tried them twice because they do seem like a good idea.

I had one on a freshwater tank for 3 years w/o problems, but salt is a totally different environment. Clean it often and good luck :D

I remember wasting money on 2 of these a few years ago. Mine actuallu worked for a few weeks but once it stopped it never worked again for more than 2 minutes no matter what I tried. I am suprised they still sell these

they suck, i have 4 of them that i bought at the same time, i should have bought 1 and tried it then i would not have bought the other 3. hydor has a great little item out,its called the hydor flo, it actually attaches to the output of a powerhead or the return from the sump, the water flow powers it. it rotates 360 degrees, very cool device, i have had 4 of the for a month and they work great(a month already beats the zoo meds piece of crap) here is a pic of 1 on my tank.

Looks and sounds cool. Can you post a link?

Does it just snap on over the return?

Thanks. I couldn't use it on my returns but I could put it on my maxi-jet. Who carries them? and how much are they?

I just ordered a Powersweep 214 from Dr Foster & Smith.

They move back and forth, anyone had any experience with these?

Unfortunately, that's what the whole thread was about. :(
