I'm almost hesitant to ask...what size tank do you have them in?

As to asking about their diet, what are you feeding them currently?

I feed mind unseasoned shusi nori fron the local oriental market. If they are not ging for the clip, try rubberbanding some toa rock and setting it on the bottom. My tangs eat like pigs and attach what I feed the rest of my tank, which is a home made sea food concotion. I go to the local fish market and get a little of this and a little of that. Stick it in the blender then freeze it.

I agree with Wazz. My convict tang (as does my poison fang blenny) goes ape for plain green nori from the sushi section of the local supermarket.

If they're brand new additions to the tank, it might take them awhile to settle in, especially if there's any animosity between them.

I have a large sailfin and a large hippo tang. They eat:

Nori soaked in Selcon
Several types of caulerpa
Silversides soaked in Selcon
various flake foods
Frozen mysis
Frozen brine

On a related note, I'm still trying to find a way to keep the nori from just being torn to shreds that then float around the tank. :? Damn fish likes to play with his food.

I have found that soaking the nori in tank water for about 5-10 minutes makes it much softer and then my fish are able to rip off bites rather than tearing long sheets off all over the place.

I feed nori by wrapping the nori around the end of some very long hemostats that I afix to the the side of the tank.

I make a concoction of mysis, brine, algae (formula 2 plus), cyclopeze, in the blender and freeze in the used up little trays frozen fish food comes in. I also feed Seaweed Selects. Mine doesn't like the clip, so I rehydrate the dry seaweed so it sinks. I am going to buy some nori as suggested by others. I also feed a small amount of Spectrum Thera + avery couple of days- they go nuts over it.

I feed a variety Pellets, Mysis, Blender mush (meaty foods), Krill and so one. My hippo grabs small chunks of whatever I throw in but does Not take Nori/seaweed from a clip & it will not eat it off a rock in the tank.
I have to let some soak rub it between my fingers so there are small pieces and dump it in my tank. This is the only way I can get him to eat nori/seaweed. I dont mind this the hermits will take care of the rest.

I'm glad to see that some folks here have included the meaty foods, this can be a rather significant part of some tang species' diets. I've found that even tangs noted as "exclusively herbivore" go ape-poop over KRILL. As in berzerk.

Mine also like an occational slice of zuccini served up on the clip. He also likes nori, and any meaty foods. I have fed him homemade, frozen formula one and prime reef. Spirulina flakes too!

If you go to an Asian foods store, they will have all kinds of fresh seaweeds soaked in saltwater in the refrigerated section. Just give them a good rinse and tangs love it. I also feed broccoli, spinach, nori, fresh Ulva...basically anything green besides lettuce I can get my hands on. P. hepatus will graze on leafy stuff but it should be offered meaty foods as well.

My Atlantic Blue turns his nose up to broccoli.

I don't feed lettuce anymore because it only changes from green to brown when it comes out the other end, then it floats all around the tank.

Yes, in the fridge. I think the package contains about a pound or so. It usually gets eaten up in about a week. I just buy one at a time because the store is right near my house.

Hey, I am going to check out that fresh seaweed. We have a GREAT asian food store here, they have a huge walk in refrigerated section where you can find the strangest things.
