Hey knowes
You have a greenhouse to or your friend does or is it on their house ? The chemicals you are refering to that your friend buys, is this salt for a water softener...on a open loop system(well water)...if so they could just change over to a closed loop, with the antifreeze type chemical in the geo tubes.
Something like he is talking (I think) is like scuba dudes and mabey treemans...just salt water run in the ground about 5 ft deep in pvc loops, might be ok for south florida...but it won't work in colder climates imo since it will actualy lower the water temp in the winter...even scuba had this problem in florida (I think)
You need a geothermal heat pump with a titanium exchanger imo...I was thinking of either buying one made for swimming pools...or making one from a old regular style heat pump...that I would convert to open loop geothermal system...and just buy a pre made titanium exchanger to tie to it
