I have my main tank in the living room and a smaller tank in my bedroom. Tanks in the bedroom are great, and they provide nice white noise (which helps me sleep).

I wouldn't want mine in the bedroom myself due to the sounds, but obviously there are those like PitPat that don't see it that way.

In fact I wish I hadn't placed it as close as it is to the listening area for my stereo. Not a problem for rock n' roll, but it does intrude on quiet classical passages.

Nano on my desk, 4 aquariums in my bedroom. There's something to be said for waking up in the morning and waving at your fish from bed and seeing them get excited.

I have a seperate room...the reef room. The wife still complains about the noise. I can't imagine having tanks in the bedroom. I have a seperate sump room in the basement so the only noise in the reef room are from the lighting fans, circulation pumps and water movement.

Living room. But it's mostly silent except when the skimmer kicks on.

I used to have a 20 gallon brackish in my bedroom. it was nice.

150 in dining room, as thats where I could put it across the most joist and a 40 breeder a few feet from my pillow :D

My wife told me last night she couldnt stand the "hour long bong hit noise" coming from my fish tank. I have to add a few inchs of airline to the stockman tonight.

Kitchen. Makes plumbing your RODI, water changes, cleaning up spills, etc. so much easier. Plus the freezer is right there for frozen foods.

I used to have a tank with an open sump in my bedroom. Couldn't sleep well with it.

Kitchen and bedroom. I like them where they are, you get used to the noise and I would feel weird sleeping without it. Matt pretty much nailed the conveniences of a tank in the kitchen.

Living room. Years ago I had freshwater tanks in my bedroom (the filtration (Eheim) was so quiet). Saltwater, forgedaboudit.

This statement just scares me.
