Starting to look like a Dinoflagillate outbreak. I hope Len's right with the Sponge ID.

Ok, if it's Dinoflagilate, how do you get rid of it? or should I get rid of it? What eats it? Even if it's fine...it is starting to go all over....very very slowly, but surely.

If it's solid enough to pinch of chunks then it's not Dino. Dino has the consistence of snot.

It's some form of algae, I feel certain. Doesn't look like sponge to me.

I will try and take some really good pics of it tonight, I have some on a rock I can move next to the glass.

Soon as I get a shower....

No pics

Here is a description of mine.

Dark red velvety looking stuff, when you blow it with a turkey baster hard, and I mean at point blank range and as hard as you can large sections of it will come loose from the rock its on. I pulled a bunch out tonight and it really seems to be some sort of algae.

The cyano I had seems to have responded well to repeated treatments of turkey baster cyano crap shoot...

This stuff though, its spreading fairly rapidly, I am loosening it up and pulling chunks out by hand. Tonight I got rid of a bunch, about a measuring cup full of it after I had drained the water out of it.

Do I mind it?

Well, a bit, if there was just some here and there it wouldn't be bad, but it covered over a rock with finger leather on it completely.

Its sort of like the blob.....

I feel sure the biggest reason I have it is lack of flow, I switched to RO water and have noticed a reduction in most of the algae I had, however I have not got the flow in the tank quite right yet. I lost about 500 gph when I changed things around.

So, anyway, I will try to get a pic sometime this week.
