Here is a description of mine.
Dark red velvety looking stuff, when you blow it with a turkey baster hard, and I mean at point blank range and as hard as you can large sections of it will come loose from the rock its on. I pulled a bunch out tonight and it really seems to be some sort of algae.
The cyano I had seems to have responded well to repeated treatments of turkey baster cyano crap shoot...
This stuff though, its spreading fairly rapidly, I am loosening it up and pulling chunks out by hand. Tonight I got rid of a bunch, about a measuring cup full of it after I had drained the water out of it.
Do I mind it?
Well, a bit, if there was just some here and there it wouldn't be bad, but it covered over a rock with finger leather on it completely.
Its sort of like the blob.....
I feel sure the biggest reason I have it is lack of flow, I switched to RO water and have noticed a reduction in most of the algae I had, however I have not got the flow in the tank quite right yet. I lost about 500 gph when I changed things around.
So, anyway, I will try to get a pic sometime this week.
