What does this look like? Pretty functional? This is going on a 215. I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything before I order it.

looks fine, why the two sets of baffles? Planning on a refugium area inbetween?

A big Trigger Sys skimmer is going in the middle. I want to put it in the sump. The thought of 1500 GPH spewing out of a tweeked skimmer has driven me from leaving it external. The middle portion is where the skimmer will reside.

I think you should make the baffle at 10" and the one at 30" go all the way up to within an inch of the top. Stoping them and inch below the top gives you a safety in the unlikely event something somehow got clogged.

This way you could run your running water level at any height above the shorter baffles. You'd have a tad more sump capacity that way.

I would give 2" spacing on the baffles.

Would 1.5 work? I'm trying to maximize the space in the center section in the event of expansion of the system in the form of other hardware.

Any extra will help. If the baffles are to close for the flow the flow through them will be to fast to allow the bubbles to drift to the surface.

Hey thanks Shane! That's neat. I'm proficient at Corel so I just whipped it up with that. I Love the 3d. Is there any text features with the Google software?

Yep, it comes with the ability to add text and you can draw everything to scale. I just re-rendered my tank w/ a new transparency + text (see below). It's pretty slick.

I like that. I goofed off with it for asecond. Could you "sketchup" my sump design in transparency real quick?

Additional question....

It is going to be hard to find parts that will allow me to use flexible hoses with 1.5 inch drains. Would it be a better idea to go with 4 1" drains (two in each overflow)? What would the flow be on 4 1" compared to 2 1.5" pipes?

BTW if you (or anyone else) wants the sump.skb file for the above image, just PM me your email address. You can open it up in SketchUp and see how I did it.
