I notice that my existing old rocks do not have any brown algae on them. The newer rocks are the brown ones. I assume this is normal. The sand closer to the newest rocks have more brown too. Flow is equal on both sides..

Well I have an electrician over today running an extra GFCI outlet. I was starting to get concerned with the load. $200 or so that I did not plan on.

Again, Nautilus with the corals, I know it appears to be a stupid thing, but those pieces of coral were basically free. They had attached themselves to the rocks, so I am not to concerned. I still have my old tank set up with my main corals.

To my suprise though, they are doing fine, so far. I have my checking my levels everyday, and going to do my first water change this weekend. All levels are still zero, except the Trate. Trate is 5 -10.

Im happy htings are working out well for you. Perhaps all the live rock you added prevented a large cycle to occur.

So far it has done just that. Hopefully it stays that way. It has been just 2 weeks. I just checked all levels today and everything is still zero, except Trate. Still 5-10. What does stink is my old tank needs to come down soon, so I am faced with a decision. Either I can take my corals back to the LFs, or put them in and hope for the best. My old tank is sold, and will be picked up in another week. That is the longest I can prolong it.

What would you do?

I do hate starting over if they go back to LFS, because the credit they give isnt crap.

I would move them over to the new tank, i dont see you having a big spike with all the cured live rock and live sand you used. Avoid a large fish load for a bit but I really think that you will be ok.

Well today I installed my UV. I just mainly wanted it for starters so my tang would be better off during the move. I will let it run for 24 hours, and then add him.

I did pay for a 40 gallon long all glass tank on Monday for my new refugium/sump. I should be ready to put it in on Friday or so of this week.

Right now everything is so crammed in the wet dry it is depressing. Something my look big at first until you actually bring it home. It is okay though.

Tomorrow I will remove the last few items from the old tank.

Yesterday I put in my last light kit, and I made a honest mistake. I ran 2 6 foot VHO down the middle of the canopy, and 2- 4 footer's in front and in back, directly in the center. Problem is now the side's look to dark, duh. So tomorrow or so I need to stagger the ones in front and back. I have a total of 760 watts which equals a little over 6 watts per gallon. Oh yeah and my moon lights probably kick it up to 760.25 watts per gallon.

I know my project is not as ellaborate(or even close) to others, but I still thought I would update. I will post some new pics by this weekend if anyone is interested..

Looks good Doni. I was luck to have lots of base rock left over from my last tank. I only had to buy a few pieces.

Thank you X.

Yeah, rock is very expensive. I have 1 piece in there that weighed 19lbs and a 17 lber. Ouch..

I'll just let you guess what the 45lb. piece of marshall select in the center of my tank cost me.

Not being elaborate is good in my book. A lot of hobbyists really get into the gizmo aspect of the hobby, but I'm a big believer in keeping systems as simple as possible.

The Fuge is finally in. Whoever it was that told me to get a stand with doors on the ends you are a genious. Of course, I did not so that makes me the village idiot. I had to cut a 6 inch by 14 inch section out of my wall to get the fuge to fit. But, I got it in. It was my fist fuge, my first time cutting drywall too. I am asking myself if this is all really worth it though. Cutting holes in my wall just to fit something into place? Well that is it for now, I will post pics for those of you who like that sort of thing within 3 days. I will include pics of the sump too

This tank was set up on 9/29 and u alread have corals in it
? They are sure to die.

They're not "sure to die" but, yes, it's better to be cautious (better to avoid statements like this unless you can also offer advice). If you keep an eye on your parameters, do water changes and move slowly with additions, then you should be OK.

There's no reason to "force a cycle" btw. If your rock is moved a very short distance and there is little die-off, then your cycle will be short. There's no particular reason to aim for a big cycle.

For about the last 3 weeks everything has been normal. No trate trite or ammonia. All is good. Tongiht I need to check levels since I took out the wet dry. I am not sure if the loss of bio balls will create an issue, but I doublt it. I have not lost anything yet, except for some hermit crabs that got into a fight.
