-sumps and Refuges are just useless fancy looking boxes so when your friends come over they go WOW thats awesome

But here's one anyways, "Crabs aren't fish. Therefore they can't survive being underwater all the time. Matter of fact, anything that is not a fish has to come out of the water at some point!" :lol:

The canister filter is fine for a salt water tank, you dont need those new skimmer things. Just add a bubble stone and its the same thing anyway.

the same guys criticizes you if you put anything in your tank that didn't come from him. "see that's what you get for not buying it from me" that to me is crazy because he is getting his stuff from the same damn ocean!!!

Anyhow I wanted to put a twist on this thread. Here is how I used to deal with stupid people at the LFS. I find a tank with a 5 dollar fish and a 20 dollar fish and I ask for the 5 dollar fish but point to the 20 dollar fish. It is easier than you think. And in my youth I was even crazier I would walk into the lfs armed with the dredded Big Gulp cup from the 7-11. I would find my willing specimen and scoop it into the big gulp cup with one swift blow.

I am reformed now and don't stoop to those levels anymore. But when i hear the LFS people talk and they are not making any sense but act like an authority it really gets me going. I always wonder how many other people they told that to and how many people believed them.

You do not need to waste your money on name brand salt. Just goto Kroger's and pick up bulk table salt, it's the same thing.

Kroger's is a grocery store. This was the first time I was in the store buying my first fish tank and I knew that the guy was wrong.

I've heard quite a few at the LFS, but this one ****ed me off the most " after your tank is done cycling in 4 weeks add a LTA and if it dies wait another 4 weeks and try again" :evil:

Not That I would want a full grown "Maine" Lobster in my reef tank. But maybe a small "REEF" sized one.
