Glasscages = Rude & Unprofessional

They wouldnt offer me a replacement....When I called them to explain what
was wrong with the tank..they were extremely rude with me...and said I had
to send the tank back at my cost and they would issue me a partial
refund..minus the original shipping and a 40% return fee..

I said ahhh NO! I want a full refund!

all i can say is- i wish i didn't see this thread until after i got my tanks. 8O
i'll post pictures of my tanks when i get them.

i'm too excited and have waited too long for this tank. i'll take the necessary steps if my tank is built like crap, but i agree- nynex: call your credit card company. they will zap the money right out of their account.

By stories I meant people discussing how badly treated the customers were or how badly butchered their work was.

i just spoke to them today. the woman-i think it's toms wife, was very nice to me. i meant to mention this thread to see what the reaction was, but it slipped my mind.

Maybe she was nice to you...cause they caught wind of the 10 forums I
posted on and the enormous negative response people are giving them.

Its your money Mr.X ...but I warn you...you get your tank and there is
anything wrong with it...they will stop being so nice to you. Go over to reef
central and do a search for glasscages and see how many negative stories
there are. Also to any off the people who said "cause they are so cheap..
why not".

Well you get what you pay for...and if your happy with a cheaply half a**
made tank that will start leaking a year after you buy it and a company that
offers no gurantee whatsoever on their craftsmanship or the quality of
their aquariums...Please be my guest...go throw your money away!

But I learned my lesson. Im having the tank remade by Aquatic Acrylic
Works. This guy is awesome. Anyone wanting a quality tank...tell me and I
will give you their contact info.

A few members from my local club have had very negative dealings with GC, i bought my 240 from them, and picked it up at Macna 05.

I had no problem with them at all, other than they were a little off with me one day when i called to make sure they had my plans and payment.

also had a little dribble of caulk on the starfire front pane (nothing a razor couldn't fix).

I also wanted to share this from the person/company that is going to remake my
tank.

"Nynex I didn't want to comment, but I just don't want any others on here to get
scuffed by glasscages. If you look close at your rear back so called baffle you can see
that it is probably not made of cast acrylic. One sure sign of this is the big chip in the
plastic and the chopping of the router blade. You will run into this if it is Ploy or
Extruded acrylic. Both are looked down upon in the aquatic industry. Those plastics
will yellow and crack under the lights that are used in aquariums. If a poly glue is not
used the seam will fail. Poly to Acrylic is like oil and water. They will bond but for how
long...... Well no one knows. Just wanted to point out one more problem."

I found this very interesting. Anyone wanting a good quality tank. PM me and I will

The fact that they are capable of doing some quality work doesn't excuse the contempt they seem to have for their customers. I have read enough of these threads that I wouldn't order anything (glass or acrylic) from them.

Didn't a well known LFS in Sacramento have a large GC glass tank fail on them not too long ago? I don't want to mention the LFS by name just wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about. When I was looking for a custom made large tank I heard nothing but horror stories about almost ALL of the glass tank manufacturers, with maybe exception to one of the larger commercial companies. For whatever reason there seem to be more reputable acrylic tank manufacturers out there.

Maybe I have my information wrong, but if it's right, I wouldn't trust GC with glass or acrylic.

that file looks like they just got tired of trying to make the customer happy.. says the BBB was satisfied with their efforts, but the customer was still not satisfied.
