in efforts to cut my electric bill, I have experimented in cutting photo period & actually eleminating my middle Lumenarc set up.
I have a regular 180 AGA with corner overfows, 6' long & 2' wide ,devided by two braces forcing me to get three reflectors hunged in the conventional method. Lumenarc clains a 30" spread & this was the main purpose of buying this reflector. hanging this reflector leveled ceates alot of traped heat that then is transmited to our tanks, I guess this is why they came out with a newer vented version. my tanks temp shot up to 87 deg at one time that I had to turn the lights off.
tilting my reflectors (30 deg angle) that they almost face each other vented the Lumenarcs and elimenated the dark spot in the middle of the tank. & droping my LIPA bill too. I will try to take some shots later when my lights turn on
growth appeared the same as noted in a 2-3 month period.
also, moonlights are an awsome idea too, but it used to be that we needed several strands to produce a desired effect, by the deflecting one blue LED to the Lumenarc reflector.....well try this tonight & Im sure you will be happily surprised
