hey everyone

The wife told me if the tank doesn't get done this week I need to break it down and well I'm out of the hobby!!!

Also if it does get done this will certainly be my last tank.

After two days of tubs on the floor she's had enough.

Thanks for the support.

I think she's fed up with my constant changes. I've had my 70 for two years but in between I've been trying to convince her on a 120 to no avail and we settled on the 92.

After seeing the mess for a few days I got the ultimatum especially after a small puddle in the stand.

Marki24 LOL :) I would be fried fish.

Thanks Adam. Appreciate the post.

It's really not rocket science it's just that I had some pressure to get it done today and it's awkward working in the corner stand unless you are vertically challenged.

I don't like the idea of the clear flex tubing and clamps so I'm just going to go with flex pvc and cement everything together.

So what do you need help with? Where is the thread you that details your issues and are there any pics? I think you must have heard from my other posts that I lost my phone along with your phone numbers. You may call me after 12:00 noon for quick answers. Feel free to ask me but prefer you to email at [email protected] so that I can reply you with diagrams and such.

Ernie,

If it makes you feel better; you are not alone. My wife has been giving me the same ultimatum the last few days. I've still got the 28 nano in the dining room, the 24 AP in the basement. BUT OF ALL THINGS, it bothers her that the garage is full of "fish crap". I have the 120 that's been sitting there since February, a 33 cube, and a few other quarantine tanks and supplies all over the place.

KathyC is looking for a 120. I think she will be more than willing to remove your tank to lower your "fish crap".

The PVC stuff isn't cement it's solvent. It seems stupid for me to post that correction but I found that keeping it in my head that I was "solving" pipe together helped me to do it right.

First you give a few go rounds with the purple stuff, or clear which ever. That is the PVC primer you want really good coverage with this on both pieces. Let it stand for 10-20 seconds so that the primer can soak in and do it's thing. Next coat it with the PVC solvent (usually milky white or clear but THICK) again on both pieces. Again you want three passes with this or so. You want REALLY good and even coverage with this stuff. Now fit the two pieces together pushing in hard and once it's in as far as it can go do a 1/4 turn. You want to do that last step quickly and in one motion. Now hold the two pieces together for 20 seconds or so, so that they fuse together real well. Presto All done! Two pieces of pipe are now one.

As was mentioned using ball valves makes this real easy and real forgiving. It also allows you to plumb in pieces and use the ball valves to plumb it all together. If you're going to use flex spa I think there is a special solvent for it. I've used two different kinds of solvent on flex spa and they've both worked (knock on wood).

Disclaimer:
I'm no plumber so others may have better advice than I.

All: Thanks for your comments. It's a bit better now that the tubs are out of the living room.

Since I didn't plan it correctly I now have the tank I wanted in my basement in the living room.

I'm not allowed to break down the 92 I have in my living room and get something else. That's the deal I received.

Steven: Thanks for your post. Life would be simpler without the other half harassing us about our fish stuff. LOL :)
