Nice! I looked at that one as well. You will of course start a build thread so we can drool over it?

My son has the JBJ 28G HQI. You need a chiller, without a doubt. His tank needs the chiller to run all the time is the current 1/15 hp one. I also put the chiller in the stand that came with the tank and stand door needs to stay open so the chiller work well enough.

I would also replace the return pumps with maxijet 1200's and I replaced the skimmer that came with it to a remora pro. Although I might replace that with a deltec HOB.

besides the Heat issue and junky (IMO) skimmer that come with the JBJ it is an easy system.

I am glad to hear that. I was concerned that the closed lid with MH would create heat issues. Escpeciallly a 150 watter. I am not opposed to a chiller, but that adds one more thing that could fail and cause a melt-down.

That now has me rethinking the JBL for the open top Solara or Ecosytems. Does anyone know anything about the skimmer that comes with these?

Looks just like mine. They really look nice when the sweepers are out.

Of course. I don't think it will be much of a build thread though with these complete systems avialable.

It'll be more like a Stock-it Thread.

That JBL 28G nano cube looks pretty sweet too.

I'm just starting up a JBJ 28g deluxe I picked up used and that ecosystems tank looks much sweeter IMO.

I would recommend you try to get a demo of whatever tank you think you want to get. - Mine I had to retro in a separate power supply for the LED's because they were wired in with the main lights. (So when main lights went out on the timer, there was no juice to power the LED's...)

There could be little idiocyncrasies like this with all of them so demo'ing would help reduce that.

I like your first pick, the ecosystem.. - Looks better than the JBJ in my view.. - Built in skimmer and better options in the rear compartment I think..

Just my $.02... ;)

I just found out that the lead time for a Ecosystem tank is 3 -4 weeks from just about anywhere you order them.

Then I got to talking on the phone to Nick at Nanotuners and I wound up ordering a 24G JBL replace tank and a Sapphire Nanoskimmer. He said I'd be much happier with that skimmer than the one that comes with JB, Ecosystems, or Solana. The sapphire skimmer won't work with the 28G tank, but would work with the 24G tanks. So that's what I got.

I also bought (from Nanotuners) a Current USA Sunpod 150W HQI fixture that includes 4-LEDS on a seperate cord. I like this fixture because of the LED's and it stands above (on legs) your tank. So you don't get the heat.

And lastly, I bought the JBL auto topoff system.

I got all of that for under $600 shipped. So it paid to not buy a package deal. Thanks Tracy for the link to nanotuners. They really know there crap (or no a sucker when they have one on the phone, lol)

Welcome back, Lew!

If you're going to go small, have glasscages build you a custom cube to your specs. You'll appreciate the extra width when it comes to rockscaping and growth planning.

I hate to admit that I'd spend that much, but I would.

I wonder if he'd sell me 4 polyps for $100?

Thanks for the link and info Tracy. That is going on my must have list. Love the name too!

Look around at some of the high end coral dealers online. These go for $40-$50 a polyp. I doubt the dude will frag the one he has. I'll tell ya frankly if I did have the scratch I would buy it in a heartbeat for propagation.

Keep looking, you'll find tons of e-tailers wanting your money. These guys are local for me:

Also, there are a lot of apparently high end corals going on EBay, but I've never had the guts to order that way

Some others would be reefready.net, exoticfrags.us, ultimatefrags.com, fragfarmer.com, fragglereef.com (can be hit or miss but Miquel is a stand up guy), worldwidecorals.com, and there are soem others that excape my mind now. Sorry for all the non sponser links, they should be sponsors though!
